It’s easy to get stuck into routines.
You wake up, you brush your teeth, you button your shirt starting from the top, you drive to work, you work, you come home, you eat dinner (does it seem like you eat grilled chicken breast every night?) , and then you go to sleep.
Nothing wrong with discipline – in fact, it’s great to have it. But there’s something wrong with a routine that makes you lose that “edge.”
Here’s how you can keep that edge:
1. Constantly challenge yourself – What can you do better each and every day? Have you truly pushed yourself to your limit?
2. Be creative – How can you an “outside of the box” thinker / leader?
3. Have fun – You’re not a robot. Enjoy the work itself. And if you can’t, maybe it’s time to find new work that inspires you.
4. Aspire – If you don’t aim for your goals, well, you’re just meandering through the day. Goals and aspirations keep you focused. They give meaning to each and every day as well. It gives you a sense of awareness of achievement (where you stand every day relative to your goals)
So dust off the standard routines. Be creative. Challenge yourself.
Expand your horizons.
And have fun!
